I've not had much experience with the pop3d that comes with RH (i had a
few problems wih it). I have been using vm-pop3d for a few months now
and it runs like a dream. I've never had to restart it but I just tested
and...

[root@potchin root]# service vm-pop3d restart
Shutting down vm-pop3d:                                    [  OK  ]
Starting vm-pop3d:                                         [  OK  ]

i HIGHLY recommend this daemon - does exactly what it says on the tin ;)
