Hi, Some of the reasons could be: - PA works and tested a lot by many users. - PA is developed & maintained by experienced experts in the field, so why reinventing the wheel while there are many other things to be done. - PA offers friendly license. However, we are always open for contributions :) And FYI, on Windows platforms there are already alternative implementations (WMME & DirectSound), and on Symbian platforms (AudioStream and APS) there are only native implementations.
