Trivia: FedEx and UPS boxes use Simplex locks.  Typically 5 digits that
can only be pressed once each. You can press multiple buttons at once
though, adding to the permutation a little bit.  But in the end, this
still only provides roughly 1000 unique combinations.  The average child's
Master Lock has over 64,000 combinations.

Further trivia -- as I understand it, most lock and even car manufactures use far less combinations in their locks. More than once I have been able to open someone else's Master Lock with one of my keys. And, there have been many stories about people driving away in a car they thought was theirs because their key worked.

I do know that when I was a MP in the service, I saw towing services use a key chain with less than 100 keys to open every common car make made. So, I think we are less secure than we imagine.
