I have copyrighted photos and advertising promos. In the past I just filled out the forms and sent $30.00 and sent 2 copies. You should check the Library of Congress's site for the current form, current price and number of copies needed. Make sure you put copyrighted, your name and year of copyright date. Most from organizing the catalogs for the list plus a few similar items. I have only used the ISBN number a few times. I guess if you are thinking of selling then I would maybe go that route. As far as copyright I have relied on simply stating the book and contents are ©. I am not sure what protection that provides. Pitfalls? Get one printed copy and examine it before going for the 100. Check and double check the text. Check for color quality. I guess keep the project fun. It will be educational on many levels.
