I'd really like to see where this conversation goes...
I've been gearing up over the last year for a studio rig to begin doing
portraits on my compound. I know there is a market for portrait work of
a more modern flavor here, and I'd like to be able to provide that (once
I figure out just how to do it!). But I also have more artsy images that
I've peddled in the past of a more alt variety and wonder what I should
charge for those.

Always have a price in mind if you are going to show a print :)
Coming up with something on the fly is a bit fraught.
If you don't sell prints as such on a regular basis, I might say
something like: How does $50 sound? Then you could mention it would
pay for your time and materials and such.
I know others who barter for prints such as a one print for a box of
paper, etc.
My two cents. :)

Question.
Printed a bunch of images of trees in the fog.
Paper size 8x10, images smaller within.
Took them to coffee and showed them to friends.
Many offered to buy prints. Two were very serious.
I was totally unprepared and didn't quite know what to say so sort
of stammered around and didn't say anything indicating a price.
I'd love to sell some of these as I feel they are worthy of
hanging on a wall.
I am certain I'm not the only one here who has been in this situation.
How have some of you handled this kind of situation?
