> Pretty neat Alberto!! > Gee! Thanks Andy, but I wish the producer would have sensed my potential as a Mafia boss for this production. ;) An interesting, and maybe not-so obvious photographic bit of this experience, is that I couldn't use a flash! The light was good enough, fortunately, and positioning the camera in the direction of movement (whenever possible) helped improve things a bit. During the tournament I did use a flash, and was hoping that the contestants would not complain, which nobody did! I tried to prepare in advance for the movements, but the teacher-san told me it was practically impossible to foresee what it was going to be. So I just ended shooting away. Many shots wasted because their face was covered in the movement or because of my "finger lag" I would catch a leg too low and so they didn't like the photo because it didn't look like they were doing a good effort. OTOH, I only recall one or two pictures with eyes closed. In the end, all this derived in a good (I think!) commercial idea that I will try to implement this week, but this time I will ask the Karatekas to hold the pose just for me. ;) ********************** www.alberto-tirado.com
