I can tell you a fair bit about things that DON'T work :-(. Although I guess I can state some of them positively: It's much more important even than usual to light the background separately from the subject (and keep the subject well away from the background). It helps a lot to put in some rim light on the subject. If you don't, the edges tend to pick up colored light off the background. Using "color" blending mode is very useful in fixing up edges that picked up color off the background. > What I mean is........... > > I am looking for a good "reasonably priced" > stand alone or plug in program for CS4 > that does a good job extracting the subject > from the background. If you get the background right, you shouldn't need anything special; just select by color. > Since I only do photos of people I need to be > able to deal with removing the back ground > from around hair. Yeah, that's one of the worst cases. Good luck! I haven't experimented with software specialized for this, it may be able to help a lot more than I think. That'd be nice. -- David Dyer-Bennet, dd-b@xxxxxxxx; http://dd-b.net/ Snapshots: http://dd-b.net/dd-b/SnapshotAlbum/data/ Photos: http://dd-b.net/photography/gallery/ Dragaera: http://dragaera.info
