I don't mind the low resolutions, I'd be happy with 2MP or even less. But my latest and greatest HTC Mogul has a camera grotesquely less good than the Epson 850z I bought in 2000. The artifacts are so grotesque with the camera phones I've had that I can't really stand them. I've seen perfectly adequate pictures from other people's camera phones, so it's not universal even in the USA (nor is it that I'm so crazy fussy, I don't think). The iPhone output I've seen is hugely better than anything any of my camera phones has produced.
