It depends entirely on your style of photography. If I were a sports or wildlife photographer, I would not even consider a rangefinder, much less a Leica. For documentary, photojournalism, street photography, and some portraits and landscapes, a Leica with Leica lenses cannot be beat. You just have to try it to see. I'm not a Leica snob but I have used Leica cameras and lenses for over 30 years for my kind of photography and they have served me well. I switched to Canon when I had to use digital for my business and Leica didn't have a digital camera yet. I was never happier than when I could put those Canons on the shelf and pick up a Leica M8.
