Well there is in my opinion a big difference between a verbal fight (which tends to get personal, involves name calling and insults) and a healthy disagreement on an adult level.  We can learn a great deal from disagreement.  Different ideas make us rethink what we do, why we do it, and how we can make our work better.  If it degrades to comments like you are an idiot, its time to use the delete button and either ignore or move on to the next list.  Nothing can be learned from such a discussion.  Now I am a fairly new member, but I don't ever remember anyone ever really degrading a discussion to that level
