A photographer who shoots at a charitable event I frequent uses a 5D
(there is no D5 that I know of). It's a couple of years older than
the 40D, so far as I know, but is billed as closer to a professional
model. Apart from the full frame sensor, does the 5D have any
overwhelming features that would recommend the additional cost? I'm
about ready to replace my 10D, and would like to know where to go. I
can give up the on-board flash as it doesn't work with my lenses
anyway (on the 10D, at least).

Have a great weekend everyone. Here the weather has gone
from winter to summer over a period of three days. BUT
next week we have threats of snow!!
On a photo matter ... I almost bought a bogus Canon D5
today. Apparently there is a D5 produced by someone that
has a policarbonate body, not full frame sensor, etc.
- price considerably cheaper than the real deal but the
store did not put any indication as to the difference
between this and the real deal in their web presentation.
It was only by a chance conversation with a human rep due
to some error in filling out the order form I found out
what was happening. I declined the purchase of course
but what if I had not? Hassle city!
