Apologies for two emails that were sent incomplete.
Are there two classes of people or circumstances. Those who want images and those who want pictures.

I'm not sure about the names yet, but yes, there are definitely the two classes you're talking about.

If I wanted to send someone a picture of one of my new born infants I would not be satisfied with sending an image of any baby, nor, inother circumstances would I want a generic bride photo I'd want a picture of my wife. Maybe there is an image culture that can be likened to the wall to wall sound of 'muzak.

Art on the walls isn't necessarily personal images; but photos in the album (or wallet) usually are. And commercial use is more impersonal of course.

It seems to me that in the realms of industry, commerce and social life there will always be a place for the 'custom' or bespoke photography.

Yes, definitely. Both for commercial photos that they want exactly a certain way, and for people who want records of their milestones. That's not going away. But it may be that people are willing to pay less for a professional to take their wedding pictures, because they get so many good photos from all their friends. Or just because they're less insane about weddings (though the industry keeps trying *make* them insane; if the wedding were *really* going to be the best day of your life, *run away screaming*!!!!).
