It will be a good day for the news industry when it abandons
covering sports and reconizes that sports is not news, it's
entertainment. Think of all the important news the paper could cover
with that section, if they stopped thinking of sports as news. They
might actually be able to do some investigative reporting. Wouldn't
that be amazing?

Hear, hear! Wonderful! For reasons unknown, sports has acquired
the status of a new major religion nowadays, Let´start a crusade!

The ancient Romans had their gladiators that fought with swords and
shields. Today we have our gladiators that fight with various balls,
footballs, soccer balls, etc. The big difference is today's galdiators
have lawyers and agents and the losers don't lose their lives.
I understand that the Mayans had a form of basketball. It was played in
a pit and the losers lost everything including their lives. Their
belongings were divided among the spectators.
