I have our gear covered for loss or theft on a Marine
Policy. One itemizes the gear including serial numbers and
the cost is quite low considering it covers any damage,
also. A marine policy is the type one would use for
insuring jewelry or guns, e.g.
It is acceptable to purchase TSA approved locks, too, but
I don't risk checking equipment, personally. Since most of
the baggage route has taped surveillance, I would have my
attorney demand payment for the replacement of the
laptops, although I recognize that hardly makes up for
such a loss.
