5 little steps...

1.-You carefully select the part you want (Using selection tools) the you right-click (WIN) or CTRL-click (Mac) and select " Make workpath"

2.-You get a resolution dialogue and you must choose how many pixels will give you the smoothest line.

*The default is 2 and I guess it's a good place to start.

*This will make a Temporary vector path which you can edit.

3.-In the PATHS pallette double-click the path you just made and save it so it's permanent.

4.-In the paths palette (Top right corner) open the little drop down menu and select "Clipping path"

5.- Save the file as an EPS file

Open it in your vector based software and you can edit the vector path which is now a clipping path.

Alternatively, send me the pic Cropped to the logo you want and I'll do it for you.
