A followup letter was received regarding this by a fellow who wrote to Olympus Australia it reads: I wanted to respond to you personally regarding the issues you have raised in your email correspondence to Olympus. Firstly, I would like to extend our apology to yourself and any other photographer who was offended by our recent TV commercial. I can assure you that in the design and execution of the commercial there was never any intention to isolate the photography community nor to create a perception of perversion. Despite sharing this campaign with our retail partners at roadshow events around Australia, we have caused concern and obvious conflict with your endeavours in petitioning to the Australian government. You are correct about moral integrity. At Olympus we consider this as important as well and consequently reviewed our position based on the fact that the perception you describe could be taken out of the commercial. Although we have had very few consumer complaints we have a wider community obligation to support the photographic industry. We have subsequently withdrawn the TVC and do not plan to show this commercial in the future. In regard to the publication of an apology, we will be working with leading Photo journalist magazines to address the future direction of the Olympus business and will respond to any concerns raised by the photographic industry. I will be happy to confirm our apology at having caused concern to the industry with the E410 TV campaign. Again, my sincere apologies. Yours sincerely, Peter Harley Managing Director Olympus Imaging Australia Pty. Ltd Web - http://www.olympusimaging.com.au
