Well there are Machinegun ports covered with oval metal sheet. Initially I was thinking about "muffled death" but did not like the negative implications.
Regarding object position would you place it at he middle? Or make it such as to occuppy the 2/3rds of the frame. My choice and liking was only to use the 1/3 of the width.

Not sure what you mean by "muffled". I keep looking for some sort of
cloth cover over the snout. Not sure about the location, either. I
keep wanting to find a reason that it's so far over to the left.
