Photo-murals to decorate a room (you can buy these at Home Depot and
such), billboards, outdoor banners, convention display banners (hung
down from the ceiling in a "merchandise mart", and stuff like that.
Plus I have seen stuff done that size just by artist's choice now and
then too.

These days, it's often done with wide-format commercial inkjet
printers -- something that can print a 4' width, say, and possibly
printing multiple strips to be joined together to make the full size
of the final print.
