Interesting note. Didn't know the Nikon 18-70mm is difficult to handle manually. Do you mean the green dot that indicates focusing doesn't even activate when you use that lens for the D200?

I've considered fixed focal lenses. Years ago, a seller offered a fixed Nikon 20mm vs the Sigma 18-35mm. The Sigma was an award winner then, so I took it instead. Now, I regret that decision.
