Making things easier makes them accessible to more people.

This is the history of photography - it has always become easier and easier. This is a democratization process, which should be regarded as a positive thing. From the Kodak box camera to color film to automatic exposure to minilabs to autofocus to camera phones - this has allowed so many more people to participate in photography and enjoy the results. If you travel in countries where the infrastructure never allowed building labs or even distribution of chemicals, you see so many people taking pleasure in taking photos. I see teenagers hanging out taking photos of each other and sharing the results - something that didn't happen before. The good thing is they could care less about elitist notions of how easy or hard it is.
