With two 1GB CF cards, I can take 140 photos. Then it's a matter of the trip duration to calculate the total number of GB required to store all those photographs. As I posted on 20 Jun 2005, I've had good results with the Apacer Disc Steno CP200 which is a stand-alone multiple flash card reader and CD-R/RW burner. It allows me to travel relatively light, post CDs home from different post offices, and keep a copy with me.

It will copy and (optionally) verify flash cards (including CF, which I use) to CD-R or CD-RW. There are later models which will write to DVD.

It will copy flash memory across multiple CDs, and also copy multiple flash memory modules to one CD. Allowing for using the minimum number of CDs to contain photos from the trip.

If the Epson's screen is as good as the revue has it, it might be possible to already judge the pictures on the road, which would be quite a bonus...

I've discovered a few photos were ok on the big screen, even though I was tempted to delete them after reviewing on the camera's screen. So I've been considering a tablet computer for use when on the road. Since I would then have a computer, it then permits use of Pentax's Remote Assistant software with my *istD.

In the meantime, I just save pretty much everything using the Disc Steno.

Oh, it's also useful when going to things like family reunions, with cameras everywhere. I just copy off everyone's flash memory cards, and we then can make copies for everyone. (Though the various RAW file formats tend to be less useful for most people. But that's another story.)
