Generally speaking, the idea to organise a trip into albums sounds appealing, but if it halves the capacity, I'd rather not do this... Do you use this option or are you happy with dumping everything in the default folder?

I haven't had a need to set up an album. The handbook describes this as a procedure if one has a need for a special purpose such as portfolios or slide shows with custom transitions and your own music. The default folders work just fine for me. I also like the ability to copy files off of both compactflash cards and securedigital cards which covers my D70 and my Casio EX-Z750, the two cameras I travel with.

Regarding capacity: Minolta tells me that if I save my images in Raw and jpg, I can store 22 images on a 265 (guess they mean 256) MB card. so: 88 pics /GB = 3520 pics

I don't shoot in RAW so a 40GB hard drive is more than enough capacity for me. I don't ever anticipate running out of space. I cannot even imagine having to go through 3520 pictures! But if I had that need, I would buy two of these before I'd go through the hassle of carrying a notebook computer around.

If the Epson's screen is as good as the revue has it, it might be possible to already judge the pictures on the road, which would be quite a bonus

In my opinion the reviewer was bang on. The quality of the image is unbelievable and must be seen to be appreciated. I did a lot of editing whilst on the road. Best bet for you would be if you could get your hands on one in a photo store and see for yourself. There is no perfect solution out there but until something way better comes along, I'm happy with the Epson.

Good luck to you Lauenz.
