>>>Thanks for taking the time to write, I appreciate your comments and what's more, I agree with them. I'm not a biggie for web video myself but as this client has a past career in video work there was no telling her to leave the video out...trust me, I tried! I'm not sure how this will resolve...for now I'm having the video builder compress the file more then we'll see how long it takes to load. There is, indeed, a skip button which takes the visitor straight into the site.>>>

You are welcome. Thanks for adding the skip button. Should I ever visit, I do not care how cool the video is, I will always skip.

Here is the problem: tell a client no and he/she might fire you. Do what they want, and the terrible performance might reflect on your skills. You could demonstrate his site using a typical computer. Leave out the media player, the required plug-in, and use a dialup connection to surf to his site.

Let the client experience what a typical visitor might experience. A few hours to DL the plugin and players and slow, jaggy video might change the client's mind. Let him see his wonderful video load, stall, play a little, rebuffer, play a few frames and so forth.

Tell the client many users are still using dialup, old machines and many will not want to DL an upgraded player or plugin. Remind him that forcing people to view his video might be like a locked door that clients will not knock upon.

I now have one computer to access the web. My other systems will never visit the web. It is a 150 MHz Pentium with an internal 56K modem, dialup access through MSN. I simply avoid the problem by avoiding sites loaded with video, music, and the like.
