Dear listers: First I wish to thank you all those who helped me with recommendations for technical textbooks on photography. I have followed several of your suggestions and have been pleased with all texts I have purchased. Two, however, have proved to be outstanding choices (as far as my personal needs are concerned). The Manual of Photography (the newest version of the Ilford Manual of Photography) is a very detailed and technical text covering topics in detail and extending into advanced subjects. It is everything I was looking for. The second is the Focal Encyclopedia of Photography. This is a great reference in a true encyclopedia-like style that makes it simple to locate information on any subject related to photography. Very detailed and very broad in its scope and coverage. Both are outstanding texts. They have helped me and will continue to help me as I move along with my photo projects. I now would like to post another question and ask again for your advice and recommendations. I am interested in purchasing a detailed text on photo lighting and studio lighting techniques. The type of text I need is one that should cover in detail technical aspects of photo lighting including continuous light sources, flashes and/or strobes, how to work with these different light sources either independently or combined, how to calculate the right amount of lighting needed and others. Your recommendations for a good detailed textbook on photographic lighting will be greatly appreciated. Thank again for your help and for all the really helpful recommendations.
