Yes, the "laserish" look is something I'm afraid of, since I suspect that this is how these books are printed. On the other hand, the book I have in mind isn't meant to be "fine-art" in and of itself. Ideally it would look like a typical book or magazine someone would find in the photography section of a bookstore, and cost about the same. It isn't intended to be a limited edition, hand made and numbered "object d'art". If the photos reproduced with the quality of the duotones in "Lenswork" magazine (which has glossy paper), that would be perfect, but I may have to settle for less. Maybe I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a few printed for myself and see what they look like. That will be the easy part. The hard part is actually designing the book, deciding which photographs to include, how to organize them, etc. -dan c.
