I did/do have an ulterior motive in all of it as well, my thinking is that if any one took the image and,say, made a wall paper out of it, it would have my web address on it so every one who looked at it would get that information, that of course was when the image was on the web large enough to be used as wall paper.

The easiest way is to have the text layer (assuming you are using PS) in black and then set the opacity to a lowish percent.
I think I could just about "see past" the fact it was there but the strong colour did get in the way of an otherwise white image.
