One of us is confused here ;o)

"Depth of field" is an objective function of focal length, aperture and
magnification and a subjective function of what you decide is an acceptable
"circle of confusion".

Of course, for any "equivalent" focal length lens on a smaller (digital)
sensor the real focal length is actually smaller too - giving a smaller
COF(sensor). Offsetting that of course is the greater "cropping factor"
which means by the time the prints are blown up to the same size the COF(print).

Some confusion might come from what digital cameras report as "aperture".

Do they mean the physical size of the hole as a fraction of real focal length
or misuse it as a measure of light sensitivity?

And of course, automatic "sharpening" routines might make the DOF look better
than it really is inherently.

Oh well, perhaps I'm not thinking straight ;o)
