Tamron has ceased manufacturing Bronica medium From The Age " ... Prices have dropped about 20 per cent in the past 12 months, and the industry expects to sell about 120,000 units this December, compared to 76,000 in the same month last year. The average price will be about $500, compared to $624 last August, and about 53 per cent of sales will be in the 3-4 megapixel compact range. (who quite likely already have high-end SLRs in their bag/cupboard). It's good that there is a renewed interest in photography though. The newer digital compacts are miles ahead of the film compacts too, and I can see why a a film SLR or P&S or even a digicam may be too much baggage for 'fun' shots.. I for one, am slowly beginning to understand that the public may be able to take their photos with their digicams/phones, but they _do_ appreciate big-glass (and expect us to be 'the professionals' - in behaviour, equipment and results).. They are happy to leave the job to the 'pros', whenever we can show ourselves to be 'the pro'. Maybe I can finally afford that Sinar (and associated overpriced accessories)... and hey, maybe a small drum scanner... and a dip-n-dunk processor... :D and I really don't think film costs anything in a commercial shoot, and the wait is not such a big deal, and the tension is FUN. </MYCOMMENT> Where have all the photoforum reviews gone?
