In reading several of the posts, I am slowly developing a plan here. I think what I'm going to do is to actually take a computer, and my photo printer with me to the shoot, and, as pictures are before the dinner, I will have time to generate proofs using my printer (5x7s) to have ready for ordering after the dinner is over, then I will take the orders and produce the final production shots for distribution after school resumes 2 weeks later. (It has always taken 2 - 3 weeks to get the prints back from the studio, so this will be no big deal.).

I know I will have some kids who get their pictures taken and then dont buy, but thats not too big a deal to me, and it might start getting me some publicity within the school.

I work in a small, private, Christian Academy (www.mcaschool.net) which is tuition supported, and I know that it is a huge strain on some of our families to be able to buy senior portraits etc, so I have wanted for several years to get into this type of work, because I can do it much more cheaply than the local studios can, particularly for our students. (Some of the local studios are getting $500+ for senior portraits, and some of these familys are having a tough time putting food on the table due to tuition costs etc.

Another possible shoot has opened up to me also, My church wants to do a Church member directory, so Early next year, Im likely going to be shooting the entire church family. I will likely do that for free, and if people want to order prints of what I get, then I will charge for the prints, but donate my time to the church.

Please keep the suggestions comming, I am learning a huge amount.

Also, I spoke with a friend last night, and he agreed to let me borrow his strobe unit (its a sunpack something, I dont remember the number, but it should help, and he said it can be slaved easilly, so that gives me the on camera flash, my promaster and the sunpack, and Im bidding on a couple of the VIVITAR 283 (?) flashes on Ebay, so hopefully I can come up with some good ones there.

Maybe this project will generate enough income to get an SB800 for my D70. :)
