I only bought it last week and it is a dvd burner as well by Lite-on, I have also tried a new Artec cd only burner....

If your burns hang at the same point each try it is a buffer over run problem. If your burner is at least a 24xCD (some of the DVD/CD combo are not all that fast in CD mode) try down loading a trial copy of Roxio Easy CD Writer. Won't cost anything but time to try it and has worked much better than Nero for me.
