I was here also when those 'big' personalities were on this list...some you mention were very kind and encouraging. Jan Faul was the most singularly offensive person I ever read in my life; granted, he's a hell of a photographer. I cheered the day he left.
I find that on most of the lists I am a member of there are always a few folks who like to stir the pot well past the boiling point. Some find it interesting but I find it very tedious to always have to defend, defend, defend...it gets in the way of good communication and good learning.
It was a different forum then, more lively for certain but, in my opinion, much more hostile and I'm not sorry that's gone.
