It may be that mailing lists have become less popular, due to SPAM. On the other hand, we shouldn't forget that Photoforum can be read without subscription to the list. People might go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/photoforum/ and look at the messages from time to time. Or, if they already use My Yahoo or a news aggregator of their own, they may even get the newest messages from the Yahoo newsfeed at the above location (the "RSS" and "Add to My Yahoo" buttons) without subscription. On the other hand, some of the listed subscribers may get all the messages automatically erased by a SPAM-filter without unsubscribing. No way to tell the actual "readership"... But a long as there are members contributing and/or reading it's surely worthwhile to continue! Just my two cents.
