it is visible in Western America.

June 8th transit of Venus across the Sun probably won't be seen here in the Southern U.S. If it were I would take my binoculars (or long camera lens) pointed backwards towards the Sun to project the image onto a white sheet of paper. Works great!! I do this to see sunspots about once a week.
