I bought one of these several years ago, when Nikon didn't have a comparable lens, at least not cost-wise. I've never had a problem with it. Seems to give good sharp and contrasty results at all apertures. I've also got Sigma 70-210 f4/5.6 Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX macro Sigma 24mm f2.8 the latter two being particularly good value for money.
