Elson,

If you are in a humid environment, it is a good idea to store your equipment in a humidity controlled cabinet. All it takes is to install a low wattage light bulb that is left on at all times. The heat it produces will sufficiently lower the relative humidity in the cabinet to significantly reduce the risk of mold in your equipment.

As to the hygrometer, it is only necessary to own one to that extent it prevents you from worrying. But, if you have access to one, it wouldn't hurt to test the results of your cabinet light on occasion.

Peace!
Sidney

Using a hygrometer, how do we know that molds won't grow in the environment? Does anyone here use a hygrometer in a tropical cabinet? Is it necessary to put UV lights in the cabinet to kill bacteria and molds?
