A fellow photographer told me that once he had an assignment to make
individual 35mm slides of just rings. Said he just put a nice piece of
folded fabric in the bottom of a large size styrofoam coffee cup, put
the ring on the fabric, and used a single off camera flash placed
against the outside of the cup.
