Doesn't surprise me at all that this sort of default came from Mr. Gates.
Where does this goofy idea come from?
"Top posting" was common on usenet and in UNIX mail long before Microsoft had anything to do with email.
Also, I generally prefer top posting because you find out what the person has to say rather than what the ten people before, whose words have already been read, had to say before.
