Euphamisms only have a certain lifetime before they become as offfensive as the word they represent. In English (the language spoken in England btw) F??? C??? S??? are very ancient words ... but thier usage has changed beyond thier literal meaning.
Not really - the first originally only applied to animals, the other two always meant just that!
> But then we all know that bad language is muchmore offensive than gratuitous violence, hey?Indeed ???
One of the most offensive euphamisms of today (IMO) is the phrase "collateral damage".
And 'friendly fire' and 'ethnic cleansing' and.....not just Orwellian Newspeak but also the depersonalisation of the target.
<<<That should shake the tree a bit.>>> Nah, the real test would be whether the gallery staff (all female) would allow a full-frontal male nude, standing to attention, to be in the weekly gallery. Mmm, meat and two veg might not mix well with my breakfast cereal ;o)
