Are you going to use NoCEM? You *might* wish to lower the spec of the
processor slightly and get SMP perhaps. If you're not using NoCEM, then I
envisage that your system would be memory/disk bound, not CPU bound, with
which my advice is get as much memory as possible - even just to cache disk
accesses.

I've heard differing opinions of the Acraptecs under Linux, my choice
would be something from Mylex/Buslogic.

Try going for hardware striping. Perhaps also try smaller drirves, but
more of them for better performance.

There are a few problems with Linux (as before mentioned), therfore I
would suggest for the best setup, that you choose FreeBSD.

The nntpcache.servers file has several example settings for several
different systems. It's worth tuning these in the few few days/weeks that
you have nntpcache for the optimal settings.

FreeBSD :). Linux is Linux.. My preference is Debian however
