I doubt if there is a right and thus a wrong way to look at the kernel.
Like there are a number of paths to reach the top of a mountain. As
Wiliam already mentioned in another reply, he is aware there is a lot of
code going on (despite not writing about it, first). I sympathize with
him in that it was an essential step for my general understanding of the
kernel to get some kind of feeling for those "tables". I agree, that his
first post could have needed some more references to code; still, at
least to me, it has some plausibility.
