I'm prettyure that mplayer will not play the video using the xv output ince you xvinfo command returns no xvideo capabilities. Try gnome-mplayer withhe x11 video output and it should work. If you still hink that mplayer uses xvideo. Please post a run of mplayer with the xv voet and the -v option, I would like to see what it says.
