Could you not create your own "Wahlau repository" where all the software in it is checked with and against all the other software in the repository?  Then, a user would need to only have that repository setup and all the software would just work.

Ideally, maemo.org or some sub-repository hosted at maemo would work this way but the beauty of open source is that anyone should be able to set something like this up.
