Odd, if your drivers don't do any power management stuff, then they
shouldn't be affected by this change.

You made it sound like your drivers wouldn't handle open/close anymore
with newer kernels.  As suspend shouldn't have kicked in if your system
is running, this seems like an odd place for stuff to break.

Do you have your drivers posted anywhere so I can take a look at them to
see if I notice anything "obvious" in them?
