After some more testing, I'll have to say that my webcam still doesn't
work well even after applying the reset quirks.

The reset quirks fixed "chipmunks audio" problems and initially
everything works fine. After a while of actually using the camera
(with skype for example) things go south though....

I don't know exactly what the problem is but it seems pulseaudio
becomes really unhappy with the device after a while, and when
pulseaudio is unhappy so is the entire application stack (Skype crashes,
Sound properties of Gnome 3 System Settings can't list any input or outputs,
Totem won't start, ...). The current workaround I've found is to unplug
the webcam and plug it back in again (ie. which I guess is basically equal to
rmmod uvcvideo ; modprobe uvcvideo). This makes everything behave again,
for a short time...

Any suggestions on what I should look at or test when I get some more time
is very welcome!
