Suman,

I had no problem using Ralink usb-ethernet adapter. I used it on
Ubuntu 7.1 with a rebuilt kernel, Backtract 3&4, and even windows. As
a matter of fact I left the card running over two nights to obtain
enough IVs on wifi network, it had no problem what-so-ever, although
it was relatively hot to the touch. I haven't been using the card
since, but if you want; I can retry using in on Ubuntu 10.10 (kenel
2.6.35-22-generic, i think).

I agree with Alan and Greg that overcurrent is a HW issue. Upgrading
kernel is probably not going to help. You should try to use Y-split
usb-cable and/or powered usb hub.
