Hi all,
I'm not entirely sure when this started. I noticed it for the first
time last month when I replaced my PC, but I then checked a second PC I
have connected to another monitor of the same type and I saw the exact
same behaviour, so it's clearly been happening for longer than that.
I've tested kernels in the 4.2 -> 4.4 range all with the same results,
and am currently running 4.4.1.
The reset doesn't *appear* to prevent the device from working. it seems
the resets only happen when the device is idle. (eg: If I dd from a
memory card, I don't see resets until the dd completes).
It doesn't matter if there is a card in the reader or not.
I have noticed, inconsistently, that rebooting the PC (without turning
it off) can stop the resets from happening, but I haven't found any
pattern as to when this works and when it doesn't.
I've attached a usbmon dump showing the activity around one of the
resets. There's a period polling happening to check for a new card
insertion, and then suddenly a bunch of traffic associated with the
internal hub device inside the monitor which corresponds to the reset.
I'm not familiar enough with the USB protocol to say whether that
activity is normal or whether it's a hub problem or a device problem
that causes the reset.
