Like I said in another post, from what I know, the problem isn't with getting the compound on your fingers, the problem is with getting oil from your skin onto the freshly applied compound. I haven't done any of the newer boards either, (since 2002), but I've been told by people who have, that the boards you get today do all that stuff in the bios, and they don't have more than 2-3 jumpers on the whole board.
