Where, and what is the latest version of speakup?!

hi,
I should probably look more before asking but how do you determine what
version of speakup you are using?  does speakup --version work?

The latest version of speakup is cvs which can be had by going to the
speakup site and getting readme.checkout and checkout which is a
script to get speakup from cvs and patch your kernel with it.

Come to think of it Bill Acker may have fairly recent rpms available
as well.
