Well, I have solved it otherway - as I now have eth1 (static IP) up all the
time, and eth0 (dhcp) mostly so, I have set up both to come up at boot-time.
That solves the problem of eth1 being eth1, even if eth0 gets unloaded later.

But still, I'd be interested to read the rationale Donald mentionned,
because I'm extremely curious and don't see what the problem could be.
