I tried suspend with the latest 2.6.24-rc from git, but it looks like something is fishy in this kernel regarding suspend: it will return from the suspend attempt when mythfrontend is running. I switched back to 2.6.23 with stopping mythbackend, lirc, and unload the cinergy driver before suspend. This method works fine.
